i think it's important for children to spend a lot of time bored out of their minds visiting relatives in very old houses crammed full of old family stuff and forced to examine the old stuff due to there being nothing else to do and it concerns me how people in my family keep moving into new builds

a weird thing i've noticed about rock criticism from the '70s (thinking of Lester Bangs and Robert Christgau here) is that those guys weirdly didn't know what guitar feedback is--they pretty consistently say "feedback" when they mean "distortion"

the Godz come to mind as a band he describes like they were Ornette Coleman even tho they were actually like... a pretty straight-on 70s metal band
btw there's probably something interesting to be written about the way that lester bangs' tendency to describe records that he likes as being like super chaotic free jazz noise rock blowouts, even when that's like... pretty objectively untrue
