Some Norwegian creature. Furry | 27 | Student.

Very interested in cities and whatnot.
The model really did not prep me for the architecture that was actually there.

Space is often mentioned as a reason why the US can't have nice urban things. Which is silly, if any it's a reason why it should be very easy to get nice things.

I know my local towns would love to have even a fraction of that space when improving bus stops and adding bike lanes.

That being said, there is some humble sprawl that has appeared, like this alleged mixed use development called Emerald Acres. But it's no more then minutes apart from the rest of the town I suppose.
Could get bad if it's encouraged to go on, but can also be halted and integrated properly.

Four lane road with a centre turning lane? Room four four lanes, and bike lanes.
Can even get some roundabouts to improve traffic flow, boom, two lanes with greenery and bikes.

Also, outside the town, 14m/45ft of mowed ditch to each side of the road? Nice, one wide pedestrian/bike path please.

Like a random one, Mattoon, Illinois. You can bike across this whole town in 30min with about no inclines.

One bike lane or wider sidewalks with some sheds put into existing parking lots, and then you have a great option for most folks.
Plus decent train station + densification possibilities.

Much more ambitious plans then I initially would have guessed as well. With musings about going further north from current construction, all the way up to the outer rim of the Mumbai metro area.

All of which is already serviced by probably the most intensively used commuter rail line in the world.

The simulation is some notches above the first game, which gives me an immense amount of satisfaction when I build a central train station and see people walking to and from it from every possible street and path available.

Cities Skylines 2 got a lot of jank still, but not gonna lie, it does feel more satisfying to play these days.

Maybe you should not have the same considerations when applying for a visa for the USA as you'd do with visiting Iran. Hot take I guess.

It also may be be a sportswashing thing, searching for the what and how gave a bunch of fluff about olympic bicyle tracks being inagurated. Guiness Records in long bike lanes have also been collected and boasted about.

For around half the year, I wonder how survivable of a stretch this is to bike.
