Not a coincidence some of the happiest countries have the highest welfare spending. Often the most productive and functional countries too.

I have very low expectations from this government, so wasn't expecting even this to happen to be honest.

To put it another way, another fare increase would make me angry, especially if they froze fuel duty again. Just hoping tube fares also remain frozen.
November 23, 2025 at 1:42 PM
I agree. I can't help but not be happy about this policy though.
November 23, 2025 at 1:37 PM
Offer a solution then.
November 23, 2025 at 1:31 PM
And of course this government is really disappointing but can we all stop being so damn cynical all the time? Better to remain optimistic!

If this is a sign Labour will start listening to people, then it's a good thing. It really should with all the pressure it has from both the left and right.

I do agree but with the governments obsession on the rail subsidy, wasn't expecting a freeze at all! Ideally, fares would be cut by a 1/3.
November 23, 2025 at 1:22 PM
Making it stay the same is OK and will have an accumulative effect. I would prefer fares be cut by a 1/3 but we have a government obsessed with making trains pay their way. I will take a freeze over yet another 5% increase! Would've seriously pissed me off if fuel duty was frozen and rail wasn't!
November 23, 2025 at 1:20 PM
No need, people on Facebook already have. Seems to be a pastime to hate on everything Labour does there. Even had someone have a go at me for suggesting tube fares should also be frozen. A fare freeze won't help immediately but it will be felt in future years, especially if in place for a few years.

It seems to just like Herts, no one can agree on anything with LGR. Probably because it keeps communities apart. These reforms are tied to ancient county boundaries that bare little reality to how people live today. East Herts and West Essex including Stansted should join together for example.

Shame you need their specific smartcard to take advantage. GWR needs to adjust paper tickets so they cost the same as these PAYG fares. Like how it works in the South East.

Amazing how much the graphics improved with Hit and Run less than 2 years later. This looks very rough around the edges in comparison. Homer looks like a neanderthal lol

A total lack of regional strategic planning thanks to the Tories!
November 19, 2025 at 10:37 PM
They can't claim to care for the environment then! Data centres use insane amounts of energy and water, AI needs to do one and go away!
November 19, 2025 at 10:36 PM
If reform somehow got into government, yes it would be a disaster almost immediately but like the Tories, they would try and drag it out for a couple years at least! It would be a zombie government.
November 18, 2025 at 11:56 PM
Makes me wonder when the shovels will come out at Shippea Hill or Lakenheath lol. Two stations with minimal trains serving them!
November 18, 2025 at 11:16 PM
Crews Hill far from the only site suitable for creating walkable towns around a rail station.
November 18, 2025 at 11:14 PM
I don't understand why we weren't doing this before. I still can't believe that Haverhill lost its railway just to get built up in the following decades!

I'm just outside London and can think of a good 10 or so stations within 10 miles that could have far more housing around them!

Finally an authority that recognises that people live in one area and may need to travel to another. They need to all recognise this! It hits the economy and productivity otherwise.

I think while we have capitalism, the level of greed and inequality we have now is inevitable. One government gets in and lessens it for a time and then the right wing get in and erode that. The one time capitalism really worked for most people, it took a world war and the Soviet Union to get there!

That's what the quotation marks are for. 'Labour'

Autistic, luckily never really needed anything to lessen the noise of the world, instead needing sunglasses in many situations to deal with light sensory issues. What an arsehole Tice is. If something helps someone cope with the world enough to participate, WTF is it to do with him or anyone else?!

Northern England is overall more consistent with it than Southern England.

Hertfordshire is pretty good for saying thank you to the driver, but then cross into Essex or up to East Anglia, seems to be a lot less common. Thought that when I was in parts of Bristol and Plymouth, some places bothered and others didn't. Definitely a lot of people saying it in London now.
