I hope to see it someday, truly an impressive transformation to what was there before. And from what I've seen online, the city's traffic isn't any worse for it.

I am really hopeful about Crews Hill, it just makes sense. It's underdeveloped for an area with a railway. Access to green spaces is fairly poor because of busy roads and a golf course. Also in council plans, found a few cross-boundary bus routes proposed, crucial as Broxbourne has major plans too.

This was one of the British Rail posters in the 90s advertising the possibilities. Imagine if people dreamed like this now!

Not a high quality image unfortunately, but found this on Reddit. Showing not just Manchester, but stops all the way to Glasgow with direct Europe trains. Dark blue would've been night services.

Most surprising to me was seeing South Wales and Devon on the map.

Scotland thankfully tidied up their counties and far more consistently than England's but Cromartyshire deserves a very special mention. Just imagining having to run such a territory and in such a remote part of Scotland. So crazy it's incredible!

Not as extreme but we still have this nonsense in Newmarket on the edge of Suffolk. Famous for its racecourse which naturally spans 2 counties as one end is in Cambridgeshire!

Stuff like this used to very common with our counties. Middlesex/ Hertfordshire border, Lancashire as examples.

We really could do with learning from Ireland. Saw this sign on a side street in Dublin.

Why can't they just install these everywhere? It's so annoying having to get my phone out just to see when the bus is coming and not accessible for everyone either!

I agree but politicians are not admitting that buses and county/ city boundaries don't align very well. Public transport must be based on travel to work areas.

Below is how regions were divided up under nationalised National Bus Company, notable is London Country covering much of the Home Counties.

Also your post reminded me of this. Queen’s Square in Bristol which once had a dual carriageway through the middle of it. It was abandoned in the early 90s and became pedestrianised. The square is a very lively place today!

I'm absolutely mind blown and I managed to finally get my final character. Thank you to whoever saved my town and to Team TSTO (I don't think they are on here). It's like a dream come true, I was so sceptical but it is real! Just amazing what fans of something can do! The Simpsons Forever! 😄

Also it probably wouldn't happen without a regional transport authority but I created this expansion of Superloop when bored at the time this network was announced. 15 routes that connect the fringe and hinterlands to convenient London interchanges for rail and tube. Partly inspired by Greenline.

The original green belt from 1955 actually made sense then it became a monster! Purple line is the first green belt, blue area is what it is today! The fact there isn't a unified development plan for this massive area bothers me.

If we were a serious country, tramlink would be something like this. A proper system all over South London and at least every 5 or 6 minutes all day, to make up for lack of tube lines!

I’m a little obsessed with this letter as I feel it says it all.

Randomly saw a similar train through Stratford on Wednesday, may have been the same one. Was a really unexpected sight.

Ever since I heard about Redcliffe Maud &saw its proposals, just for the government to change. The proposals abandoned &ironically be replaced by the messy and fragmented local government we have, I can't help but think what a missed opportunity. Ceremonial counties are great but not fit for today.

Can't believe they're back again, I remember this name from last year. Tories are sad creatures! Ain't fooling no one.

Seeing moron reminds of this from the Simpsons and seems fitting for the orange one.

I love how without trying, everyone's Springfield is so different. Here's mine, played on & off since 2013 & I got into it in a big way since 2020. Filled the whole map when they re-released the content I missed. Still can't believe a game can just be taken away now. Enjoyed my time with Tapped Out!

Nothing tops this! One of my favourite things about being British is our creativity at protests. I still remember this balloon years later 🤣

Hope it's not to late to still do this but finally got your book and thought I'd share with one of my favourite London high streets, Enfield! Only read 10 pages so far but really enjoying it. Good that people advocate in this way for transport, only way things will change!

How? She's got to be one of the worst people ever, certainly not fit to be a journalist with her obvious bias!
