Correction: I can get the almost 50% discount even from Germany … if I CHANGE THE APP LANGUAGE TO FRENCH
November 17, 2025 at 12:01 AM
I’ve seen a LOT from SNCF but they just like to surprise me. Their app CONNECT shows vastly different prices for the same train depending on if you’re inside France or not (flex prem stays the same)

Spannend!

Sollten. Tun aber nicht.
Talgo links, ICE 4 rechts.

Ich hatte das erst für einen Scherz gehalten:

So there you have it. What do make of DB‘s newest „high“ speed train? What are you most excited about?

Bathrooms had lots of teething issues. The touchless controls are a mess and non-intuitive. Also they seem to go off by themselves, toilets were constantly flushing. So many were shut off to prevent emptying of water tanks. We arrived in Berlin with a total of 3 working toilets.

If you like to ride on top a traditional bogie, there’s still the dead end lounges for you 😁

Bike space is Great.

They do work, recline is „ok“ they’re decently comfortable. But compared to every other seat ever installed on an ICE these feel a bit plasticky and flimsy.
November 9, 2025 at 2:44 PM
I swear didn’t mean to but first thing I did was take the seat apart. Head rest was stuck, tried to wiggle it free, instead it came loose immediately. Talgo technicians were quick to snapshot back into place.

The build quality of the interior is sub-par. But I hope this will be fixed.

Since I work with, in and around train galleys, I very much appreciate this one. Clean, functional. Making the most of the little space that is available.
November 9, 2025 at 2:38 PM
Ironically, since this was a free test ride, 1st class was crammed. While we had a pleasantly roomy experience in 2nd.
November 9, 2025 at 2:36 PM
There is one. single. door. Per train per side that has this neat gap filler. Yes it grants wheelchair users autonomous access which is great and a first. But why make things worse for 98% of passengers? This does not make sense (particularly bc every series of ICEs had gap fillers al all doors)
November 9, 2025 at 2:33 PM
All comms and advertisement and marketing and PR had been about accessibility granted through the step free access. Even the claim was „don’t mind the step“. So this is bewildering. Yes the floor is the same height as the platform. Amenities stop there.

Hallooooooo! The world doesn’t need another Talgo 230 opinion so here’s absolutely mine for you to enjoy! ☺️

I’m still not sure wether I like the looks. I’m all here for loco hauled stock and mean look. So I guest this is a ✅

I. Kid. You. Not.
For 200 years we have built trains with steps at every door so that you can safely enter from any platform height (or from no platform at all). Now the most modern and revolutionary and „accessible“ train needs this mobile device to mount. Oh and ingress at one door only ofc.
🤦‍♂️

And props to ÖBB for already using the actual images of the precise accommodations that will be in offered. This takes a whole lot of work, didn't expect them to get it right from the start!

Aaaand it's happening! Bookings for the "Aurora" Basel-Malmö just went live a minute ago! Tickets are both available now at
shop.sbb.ch
and
shop.oebbtickets.at/
With nightjet.com also being an outlet, this will follow in probably a few minutes. Tickets and categories are the same as in classic NJ.
