Lenten reading sorted. Time to see if I’ll overcome my anti-Augustinian bias that was implanted in me when I was a young Christian from I don’t even know where

I don’t buy into the Luigi veneration. Not because of the violence of anything, just because he obviously didn’t do it.

Still haven’t heard any Sabrina Carpenter songs but just found out she’s apparently not Karen Carpenter’s kid? Sorry for assuming you’re a nepo baby Ms Carpenter congratulations on the success

If you guys have anything to give, it would be appreciated. In terms of organization, a gift of $10, $25, or $50 would be great, my family and I’s heat is down. The temp on the thermometer is 47 F atm. The heating guy is coming tomorrow but our expenses are all piling up. Help would be appreciated.

Was always curious how reactionaries would square their rejection of climate change once the effects became clearly abnormal and catastrophic (like cities burning in the middle of winter). Didn’t think it’d be as simple as “oh firefighters are woke lesbians who can’t hold a hose”

I think what’s made me realise that I kinda like India is that there have been quite a few matches/series I’ve watched us lose to them and thought “dang they’re just too good, that was so exciting though, I love cricket”

I have never felt this way watching us lose to South Africa or England.

Latest weird parent dream: dreamt I was in The Wiggles and all the other wiggles hated me because I sucked so bad. Hit a wrong note and Lachie got so mad he threw a mic stand at me like JK Simmons in Whiplash

A couple wrong clicks and now the YouTube algorithm is giving me videos of Americans showing off their favourite coffee/iced coffee “recipes”. Makes for uncomfortable viewing but I’m trying to keep an open mind and view it as an anthropological curiosity.

seeing someone run a 20 second 100m and pulling the Olympic lunk alarm
They should have a more relatable Olympics for athletes who aren’t trying so hard. Just showing up and seeing what happens

Still thinking about this guy from the Blackfish doco who helped capture orcas for Sea World, and how the ellipsis in this quote is “I saw some bad things while a mercenary involved in multiple US-backed regime changes in Latin America [but I think the whale stuff was worse]”

Apples are interesting in that any way you cook it turns out worse than just eating it fresh. Applesauce? Apple pie? All inferior to simply eating a fresh apple.

In an effort to not get the kids sick I’ve been segregated in a different room and barely seen them for maybe 5 minutes all week. I miss my kids so much they’re so cool.

A cool thing to do before going to sleep is watch an episode of a tv show where a young girl is abducted by human traffickers and also the character has the same name as your actual daughter

Still get done in by that beat switch in Psalm 149 every feast day when it appears in the morning prayer

I hate the ol cost of living pressures as much as the next person but there’s not much more pathetic than the person bemoaning that pubs being more expensive are causing us to be more isolated and lose our sense of community.

It is deeply unfair that the songs by male characters in the Frozen films are so much more difficult than those by female characters.

It honestly kind of sucks that they're making a whole movie about how one time a vampire got loose on a ship. Vampire-at-sea incidents are actually remarkably uncommon because of the strict practices and procedures that mariners carry out to prevent this very thing from happening

Don’t blame the spider. As a man the responsibility is on you to divert your eyes if looking at its body is tempting you to lust.

Had a workers comp client tell me how awfully he was treated by his employer by trying to make a very legitimate injury claim and man, it's so disheartening yet unsurprising that the employer was a Catholic nonprofit

Shoutout to the baby for waking up crying around the 60th minute and making me put her back to sleep instead of watching the Wallabies lose again

Like all great filmmakers, WALL•E is both director and viewer; he understands that movies, more than a means of personal expression, are a means to community. We know this because of how he gives Hello, Dolly! to EVE, how they experience it together.
WALL•E: Whoooooaaaaaaahhh . . .
Deeply influenced by the classics of silent-era comedy, this vision of a postapocalyptic future celebrates cinema as a universal language that offers us a sense of common ground.
