So it was pretty shocking to me when I later learned about Jewish settlers destroying Palestinian olive trees.

That’s about the age I was when I realized that, in an age of nuclear weapons, concentrating one’s population into a small area is the worst possible survival strategy.
(On the other hand, the Jewish Diaspora is largely concentrated in and around NYC, and I have no plans to leave Brooklyn.)
