Training new clinicians in the age of behavioral treatment and managed care is very challenging and disheartening.

I very much enjoy supervising young clinicians. I appreciate their passion and enthusiasm. It is very difficult, though, because the way in which I practice often seems fundamentally

I used to think to myself 10+ years ago that the US would have to get a lot worse before it got better. That was a much easier pill to swallow as a hypothetical than as a reality.

We’re cooked.

I think the only thing that will save us is a nationwide general strike.

Currently working on a psychoanalytic/somatic conceptualization of religious trauma and my brain keeps going off into a million different branches of thought. This is gonna be tough to whittle down 😅

Finally cracking into this. I’m only 30 pages in and I can already tell this is going to radically shift my conceptualizations and relationships with my clients. It’s been on my list for 2 years and at the behest of my supervisor I finally pulled the trigger.

A month into my private practice journey and my caseload is half full. Fingers crossed I can fill the rest in the next few months and finally be able to quit my serving job and be able to leave the soul-sucking food industry for good 😅

Playing a game of Telestrations: After Dark with some friends last night:

My autism: Sun Tree

The secret word was “morning wood”

😂😂😂

I’m usually really good at most games but my literalism got me this time 😅

For the July/August issue of @motherjones.com, I dived into Elon Musk's relationship with Aspie supremacy and how it's promoted online. This ideology, coined by the late autistic blogger Mel Baggs, also dehumanizes autistic people with high support needs. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
The 4chan-coded ideology behind Elon Musk's war on normies
Musk thinks autism makes him superhuman. Just don't call it that.

Going to church for the first time in 16 years. (Networking with some local progressive pastors for referral sources for clients with religious trauma)

Quite the stir in my body this morning, though!

Yesterday I made a post saying that if you strongly suspect you're autistic, chances are extremely high that you are... and I was asked for evidence to support this. So, here it is...

Got to present my conceptualization research project today on the intersection of autism and religious trauma. I had such a great time sharing what I found, and more importantly, what I didn’t find in the existing literature.

@christianityon.bsky.social Hi, Jon. I am a neurodivergent therapist who specializes in religious trauma and have just recently begun a research project conceptualizing the intersection of religious trauma/religiosity and autism. I just found your podcast and I would love to chat with you sometime..

It's really hard to make videos about all of the cool science coming out all of the time.

I really appreciate Trump trying to help me out with this problem by making it so no new science comes out ever.

My diagnostic journey

Social Anxiety -> ADHD -> ADHD w/ Autistic Traits -> Autism

Rising rates are due to updated diagnostic criteria not environmental exposures. We exist. We are valid.
Autism is a spectrum because it includes autistic people who have no visible signs of autism, autistic people who have every stereotypical visible sign of autism, and autistic people who fall everywhere in between. We all exist. We are all valid. And we are all deserving of support.
