You need the amount that the RRs run. You will always have the chance of one or two being camped in, and it can take a while until conductor is sure of that. Then you have the ones that develop messes. And you have 6 cars trains that would only have 1?? No way.

The DOT literally had the solution to this already listed as “potentially” being implemented. And then they decided not to, despite overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Hmm. Almost like all the people at the 31st Ave workshop knew what we were talking about when we put comments that the plaza blocks were mandatory to keep that section low traffic.

I am going to get the first northbound train because, from my point of view, the first in service REM train to go under Mont Royal is the true first one. That is such an life changing segment to have introduced rapid transit to.

So glad I read this post and found out about the weekend open house. Was able to minorly adjust plans to be able to make it on the first train on Saturday. I was previously planning to be on the first train on Monday.
And 9am will be a much nicer time for the inaugural ride!

NYC Then and Now offers a perfect insight in to the amount that the city was (physically) growing at the time. The 1924 view is incredible. And if you compare it with the 1951 view, you will see that over that 25 years the city becomes mostly what it is today.

Mamdani said he will move traffic enforcement to the DOT. It feels too optimistic to think we can meaningfully change so many people’s behavior, but with enough ticketing and towing/booting… maybe?

I am just happy we aren’t in the same situation as last year. Imagine if they rammed Intro 606 through at the end of this year and had Adams sign it before he is gone.

And when it comes to ending a sentence on a quote I always put the period outside of the quote. Much to the dismay of my English teachers. If the period is in the quote, how can the sentence possibly be considered complete. Stubborn I know.

Doesn’t this depend on if the question is within the quotes or if the question *includes* a quote? If I’m quoting a question but not asking the question myself, ? goes inside. That just makes sense, it’s not a question *I’m* asking.

A few weeks ago I was on a train from Huntington that arrived at Jamaica 15 min late because the conductor took 1-3 min to open the doors at every single stop.
But the overwhelming majority of my trips are a good experience.
