Yeah no way that’s gonna happen. MTA will not accept that.

For a significant distance, I took the opposite side of the river of the actual path. It took work to find ways around every obstacle, but it made for a very fun walk!

✅ Cold Spring Harbor

There is officially signed trail access to the station, but you enter the station by using the employees only platform ladder.

Employee Bulletin Notice found in the dirt next to the tracks. It’s from a week ago.

Always great to visit Ardsley-on-Hudson!!

I love how easy it is to do a semi-rural tranquil feeling walk from a Metro-North station, even without going past lower Westchester! This is only 5-10 min from a station.

@jehiah.cz what is up with the math for the % of protected bike lanes? 209.28/330.46 = 63%.

In 3.5 years, I've ticked off 77 stations on the LIRR. Visiting all stations is a common goal for transit fans around the world. It is an easy goal to attain with enough time.

The article was a nice read, but it was strange how they repeatedly treated the idea of doing this an entirely unique.

I ride the Harlem and Hudson lines CONSTANTLY and every time I get on the New Haven line (very rare) it is like
this ⬇️ about how damn busy it is.

Busiest rail service in the country!

Replacing the ten trip, valid for 6 months, with a new system that is limited to travel within a 14 day period.

Unacceptable!!

The new system would be fine, if it were valid over a period of 6 months. There is no reason to cut this discount for regular but infrequent riders.

"When the Dual Rapid Transit System is extended to Whitestone and Little Neck by means of the proposed leasing of the Long Island Railroad Tracks..."

NY Times - November 18 1917

I always thought these extensions were only considered, not outright expected to be done.

The same project being referenced later that year.

Hm. Rapid transit *assured* to Whitestone and Little Neck? I guess it should open soon, how much longer could it take!

@transit.app

Just because the next bus is turned on, does not mean it is going to depart nearly 30 min early.

This is a consistent, recurring problem with the app. It makes it unusable for trip planning or for the non-technical user if you are on an infrequent bus route.

Not sure how to fix it.
