I just want to say that your videos have inspired me as both a creator and a trans person in such a scary time. No idea if you'll read this, but thanks for all you do. <3

Because those three are the experts in the situation, not the transphobes weirdly obsessed with private conversations they were never invited to and which they know nothing about. Just leave us alone.

But I'm over this discussion that we can't allow transition because of possible regret. Guess we need to toss out falling in love, going to college, and all-you-can-eat buffets as well. This is a case by case basis decided by a patient, their healthcare providers, and sometimes their families.

Ask anyone who has transitioned and they'll tell you just how many hoops they had to hop through to show they are "sure." This isn't done overnight or carelessly. If anything, it takes courage and self-advocacy and a lot of patience to overcome barriers. And I'm proud of them.

We do need to talk about detransitioning. Not because it is evidence against gender affirming care. Because it is part of gender affirming care.

Again, the problem here is not people who detransition. It's those using detransition to shout above evidence-based advice of those who have studied and done this work and seen all the good transitioning can do.

But instead, the potential of regret is used as a reason to bar services that could change or even save children's lives. To erase trans kids and enact certain harm. This is not an argument in good faith. It is using fear to score political points. Just look at the name of this event.

If this were really about protecting children, we would continue to do gender affirming care with kids as we do now: carefully, slowly, and mostly in reversible or partially-reversible ways. Then if their needs change, we would continue to be there for them as they grow into who they are.

Detransitioning may also increase in numbers over time, but those statistics often ignore that the absolute number of all transitions is also increasing.

This is why percentages are important, and gender affirming care is known to have regret rates much lower than many common medical procedures.

Someone's life circumstances or understanding of themself may change. That doesn't mean transitioning was the wrong choice when it was made. Perhaps it's just not what the person needs now. And a team of compassionate professionals can work with them to find what they do need.

Some people choose to reverse their social or medical transition. Many do so out of social pressure or survival rather than regret. However, those detransitioning by choice also deserve access to care and to not be stigmatized.

Very trans and very interested! I'm out in Oregon, but if that's still okay then I'd love to learn more.

And, in theory, those would include every Republican Representative plus the following Democrats:

Ami Bera (CA)
Ed Case (HI)
Jim Costa (CA)
Laura Gillen (NY)
Jim Himes (CT)
Chrissy Houlahan (PA)
Marcy Kaptur (OH)
Jared Moskowitz (FL)
Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA)
Tom Suozzi (NY)

9. Another bill, also unlikely to pass but similarly extreme, removes the word "minors" from a gender-affirming care ban, expanding it to apply to all ages. These proposals illustrate a broader shift in the Overton window, pushing once-unthinkable policies closer to political reality.

The EO also includes among its concerns the prevalence of ADHD and autism before proposing its goal of "ending the childhood chronic disease crisis." Anyone else worried how they intend on ending neurodivergence?
