I'm writing a scene between a father and his daughter, and she's just said she's falling in love. Describing his gentle expression ... his awe, grief, and hope for her ... goddamn it. I can't see for the tears. My dad died the year before I met my husband. They would have loved each other. #writing

I hope everyone pulls back this Xmas with the insane shopping. Make something. Bake something. Write a song to share. Invent a game. Go for a long walk and chase snowflakes followed by hot chocolate with marshmallows. Be silly and playful with those you love. It's about the time - not the stuff.

Somewhere today I read that "Oppe og ikke gråter" is Norwegian for "Up and not crying," and is a perfectly reasonable answer to the question, "How are you?"

Norway, thank you.
This is the humanity and empathy we all need.

Having a bit of brain fog while editing and thought, I'll do some squats. Get the blood pumping.
Hmm, how many?
Decide I'll squat until my knees don't click and creak and pop.
I'm going.
And going.
Still squatting.
Mildly concerned now...

Good news.
British and Australian chemists have discovered a powerful new antibiotic called pre-methylenomycin C lactone, hiding in a well-known soil bacterium. This molecule kills drug-resistant bacteria without triggering resistance. buff.ly/YlXaONo

Wow. I never knew so many anxiety medications were being given to dogs (and cats). Stella and I had a scary experience last week with three dogs on the loose. We're both okay, but still shaken. Hopefully, neither of us will need Prozac to cope.
