But if manufacturers move all of their manufacturing back to the USA, they won't collect anything in tariffs. What is the goal of the tariffs? to collect revenue or move manufacturing back to the states. Sounds like the purpose is to collect tariffs.

You would think since Trump is a capitalist he would understand how capitalism worked. They could do it if they rented high margin luxury apartments but auto companies have no choice but to pass on the cost of tariffs to their customers.They are a low margin business.

So what is the purpose of the tariffs. He brags about how it will bring in 100 billion dollars and then says it will force all these manufacturers to move production to the USA and create jobs, eliminating the tariffs that they would pay by not importing. Huh?
