He was deported to #Auschwitz from #Westerbork in September 1943. He was murdered in a gas chamber after the arrival selection.

Belgian #2WW resister Andrée Dumon has died aged 102.
Aged 17, she helped run the #Comet escape line, escorting c.800 downed aircrew & 300 soldiers to Paris. Betrayed, she survived Ravensbrück & other camps.
RIP #AndréeDumon 1922-2025.

12 March 1912 | Polish Jewish woman Ala Gertner was born in Będzin. She was incarcerated in #Auschwitz in August 1943. She worked in „Union” munition factory from where together with other women she smuggle gunpowder to Sonderkommando resistance. She was hanged on 6 January 1945.

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

She was deported to #Auschwitz from the Theresienstadt ghetto on 6 September 1943. She did not survive.

Thoroughly recommend new Sir Steve McQueen film #Blitz. Probably the most historically accurate and detailed depiction of the Blitz I've seen. A lot of work has clearly gone into it. The lead, 10-year-old Elliott Heffernan greatly deserves a film award for a clearly testing role. #WW2 #History
