Geek, nerd, dweeb, dork... I've been called a lot worse over time. Avid SF/Horror fan on screen & in print. Comics, video games & rock music, too. Too old for my own good.
When the great Twitter exodus began, I tried several alternatives.
I opened accounts at:
Hive Social,
Tribel,
Mastodon,
And here.
I eventually found that BlueSky was the best option.
Of the others, only Mastodon seems to still be active.
Can anyone else confirm this?

To those of you within my limited reach...

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Hope you have a terrific day.

And to those who don't celebrate...
Enjoy the peace & quiet while the others overeat, drink, and fight with each other.

Today we lost a legend.

To be brutally honest, it's an absolute miracle that Ozzy made it out of the Eighties considering his wild lifestyle.

He leaves a loving family, a legion of fans and a body of work for future generations to discover.

Rest In Peace, you Madman.

I realise I'm targeting a potentially small demographic but...
Is anyone else who subscribes to Onlyfans having trouble with the age estimation software I'm being forced to use? I don't have photo id of any sort, and their age estimation software doesn't recognise my face as a face!

I just discovered that Fantastic Four: First Steps will have a runtime of 97 minutes.
That's pretty rapid for an MCU movie. I guess that means an extra 2 or 3 screenings a day in cinemas and potentially bigger box office.

@wendingus.bsky.social have you seen the recently released film The Gorge? There are some scenes and creatures that had me thinking of your creations from A Lonely Broadcast.

It's on Apple TV, so that might limit your access and its audience...

FINALLY finished listening to the audiobook of A Lonely Broadcast Book One by @wendingus.bsky.social, and featuring @autumnivy.bsky.social. Thoughtful, gripping, funny & horrific in equal parts, I loved every second of it. Highly recommended.

Watched a couple of new films recently.

Nosferatu - Gorgeous cinematography, very mannered performances, and incredibly slow. Not impressed.

Star Trek Section 31 - Disjointed, with obvious plot twists. Decent performances but should have been a miniseries, not a film.

My friend brought her thick boyfriend along to join our really good pub quiz team. She put him up for the tie-break to win the big Xmas prize and he answered "What's the capital of Syria?" with "Domestos". So I did a no-show at their wedding, fuck them.

Finally managed to download my copy of the "A Lonely Broadcast" audiobook from author Kel Byron @wendingus.bsky.social, featuring the awesome Autumn Ivy @autumnivy.net. Looking forward to diving in...

@wendingus.bsky.social Hi there! I've been looking at your website to buy a copy of the Lonely Broadcast audiobook, but I keep getting a 404 not found error. Should I just keep trying, or is there a problem with the site?

Just re-watched this after some 44 years!
The last copy I had was on VHS and was missing the last 90 minutes. When I asked the releasing company - Castle Communications - "WTF?", I was told "that's the version we were supplied with".

I've been here a little while now, and when I first got here, sometimes my timeline wouldn't change much from day to day... because there weren't many folk here.
Now... It's a lot more lively.
This is a fun place to be now!

Mini film reviews incoming...
These are just what I have seen in the last few days. Some new, some old... some REALLY old.
Deadpool and Wolverine - fantastic fun for comic book fan boys & Ryan Reynolds fans. A great time, well made & left wide open for a sequel.

Well, that was fun.

Woke myself up, literally choking on my own bile & mucus. Then, my pelvis & back decided to re-align, sending a bolt of pain up my spine. And finally a cramp in my right calf has left me completely awake.

I love my life...

There are plenty of films considered classic.
Also, many that become "cult" classics.
But, is there a film you have seen that is fairly unknown, or a box office dud, that deserves a higher profile?

I'll start - Richard Kelly's Southland Tales. Always in Donnie Darko's shadow.

I hadn't realised how long it was since I posted here...

A Merry Christmas to those few followers and friends I have here.

Am I alone in noticing a LACK of existential dread when opening BlueSky?
Every time I opened the old Twaddle app, there was a sense of "oh no, who's dog piled on me now for an innocent comment..."

Hasn't happened here. Yet.

It's the time of year when people are posting which movies they're watching in the run up to Halloween - generally big franchise horrors.
I've found myself going through old Godzilla films, from the 60's right up to Shin Godzilla (2016).
