What I really want to know is how/if, if/when the Trumpist era ends, things can be rebuilt. Can $ that was stripped away be restored? Can staff that was fired be rehired? Or will the next govt have to remain an empty shell because rebuilding would be too expensive?

I just have to say this: instead of concentrating on the shooter's dysphoria and blaming that "mental illness" for the shooting, maybe if transphobia were treated as the illness in the Catholic church and EVERYWHERE, trans people would not be inspired to shoot up Christian religious institutions.
