Started something new. The Musselburgh hat. First snow of the season is likely this week, so I need a new hat, of course.

Hennepin County Library has limited edition Prince library cards right now. Minneapolis friends, head to the library and you might still be able to get one!

I quite like this one and I really don't know why. Just makes me happy and it has for years.

Last day in Grand Marais. Came for a 2 day art workshop. Incredibly peaceful and quiet here. Whole vibe is just super chill. Sad to be leaving. ‘Twas a lovely respite.

Happy Sunday, knitter friends!
My Nordic Bloom cardigan is coming along nicely. Already getting slightly nervous about those steeks though.

Sweater week!! Time for #showmeyourknits. Here's the Pohjolan Neito sweater I just finished. From the book Knitted Kalevala. Finnish folklore and poem for every pattern. A delight. Like wearing a hug. Finnish Tukuwool DK. Love the yarn and highly recommend!

The Finnish Kalavala sweater is done. Which means I get to start another sweater! This one is a cardigan and I'm going to steek it. First time with the steeking! It will be fine. Nordic Bloom pattern. Juniper Moon Farm - Moonshine Bulky (Wool, baby alpaca, silk). Dreamy.

Authoritarian regimes, dictators, despots are often, but not always, fools. But none is foolish enough to give perceptive, dissident writers free range to publish their judgments or follow their creative instincts. They know they do so at their own peril.

Today. Blank paper. Realizing I don’t want it to be about doing something/cleaning something/being responsible, productive or a leader. Don’t want to make a list or worry about money or wear make up or a bra. Torn between supposed to/not supposed to. Earn more, do more or learn how to just. Stop.

Finishing this book soon for Spanish class. Not typically a genre I would chose, but I must say, it has been delicate and rather lovely. (3 chapters remain).

Got some yarn in Porto the last time I was in Portugal and I’m knitting this fun sweater. Had to perform a bit of yarn surgery yesterday though due to wine-induced error. 😬

I met a beloved old friend after work last night at a little jazz club. We talked about real things; none of it political. And for a few hours all was right with the world. Art and love are the expression and heartbeat of our existence.

You could make the Maailman Synty sweater from the Finnish Kalevala collection. I did. It's pretty easy and goes fast.

Perform in concert tonight w the big band. Didn't sleep well.
Unseasonably warm and humid in Minneapolis, so all my good reeds are different now.
Sharpened knife, soaked reeds, refined them carefully, polished oboe keys, packed all things. The other instruments have it easy.

Day 2, SXSW in Austin TX. People here from all over the world to connect, learn, and collaborate. The people in front of me are speaking Japanese. Those behind me are speaking Portuguese. People are polite, happy, and kind. I love it.

Today in the conference room at my office there was a little rainbow on the floor from a prism. Rainbows are gonna show up no matter what.
