How to design for failure:
Step 1: put live current wire right next to soldered plate that gets hot;
Step 2: metal plate gets hot, melts thin insulation;
Step 3: plasma fireworks (the breaker popped)

Here's what happened: (1) DNC's consultancy class wanted the bill to pass, to use it as ammunition for the mid-terms; and (2) career Dems have no interest beyond the 2-year handoff strategy. You don't hate Democrats enough. apnews.com/article/trum...
'Beautiful' or 'Ugly,' Trump's big bill shapes the battle for House control in 2026 midterms
Debate over President Donald Trump’s sweeping budget-and-policy package is over on Capitol Hill. Now the argument goes national.

AI: The lack of separation between data and instructions seems inherent and unfixable after so long and so much investment.

This makes the entire technology unfit for any purpose. forever.

I just saw someone use the expression "LLM hallucination propagation" to describe the compounding and self-reinforcing hallucinations when you let an LLM access your codebase, as analogous to NaN propagation in graphics

All reps/senators should be crashing adm press conferences until someone gets arrested. If someone gets shot, they will cheer, defend and lie about it. There’s no higher ground, you have to make a show out of it.

Everyone knows the "nine meals" quote, but the best part is often left out:

Fixed it! Don’t even know how, I’m shit faced on wine, guess shouldn’t be coding if I’m not buzzed
Ok, I finished the QR Code generator, but it seems like I did something wrong with the masking part, because every time I run it the modules are arranged differently, somehow? I’ll see if I print all masks together, to see if they change, it might be something else

Anyone can do post-publication peer review.
Anyone can be a steward of the scientific literature.
Anyone can do forensic metascience.
Anyone can sleuth.

That's why we are launching COSIG: the Collection of Open Science Integrity Guides, an open source resource for all of the above.

Some places have old appliances with no ground pin, I only touch those after unplugging them. I might die from a car running me over in my bike, but I will not die to some old ass machine.

You know what makes me crash out? When a business has a “contact us” form, so I write a detailed message hoping for an answer and I never hear from them back. Not even an automated “we’ve received your message” reply.

WAIT the masks can be a hash table too? Because you are doing modulo with the row/column number, it is not dependent on the value of the module, you can even apply each mask while placing the modules (which is done by hash table)
"everything is ~~computer~~hash table".
OMG I just realized all this can be pre-calculated into a hash table, because all sizes are known, Masahiro Hara you are a GENIUS
My dumb ass thought the hardest part of encoding QR codes would be Reed–Solomon ECC, but then I find out you have to lay out the modules IN ZIGZAG from the RIGHT BOTTOM corner and then there's an entire data MASKING process WTF Masahiro Hara I'M USING C
