On April 5, I am joining thousands of people as we march on Washington and demand an end to the genocide and an arms embargo NOW. We will not be deterred by the Trump admin's attempts to quell our movement. Join us - find bus info at marchforpalestine.org. Talk to me about making a plan to be there.

NYU canceled a planned speech by the former president of Doctors Without Borders because she planned to discuss the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and cuts to US AID.

This is what actual campus censorship looks like.
‘Climate of fear’: Montreal doctor says NYU cancelled her presentation
A Montreal doctor says her presentation at NYU was abruptly cancelled and believes the university did so out of fear of being pressured by the Donald Trump administration.

what replaces due process under fascism is the assurance of protection for favored groups. even though it’s precarious, a lot of people feel just as protected under that framework as they do under one with due process
If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

We uncovered in 2024 that Chicago police was breaking a law requiring it to report police stops to state:

It had failed to report ≈ *200,000* (!) stops.

Chicago police finally concedes this, in new Sun-Times investigation: chicago.suntimes.com/the-watchdog...

For me, fighting fascism has nothing to do with thinking I’ll win. I don’t fight because there’s an inevitable outcome, I fight because I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t do something.

Incredible. Shoutout to @elisabethepps.bsky.social!
NEW: Colorado last year became the first state to mandate that all jails set up in-person polling places. (Remember: most people in jail are held pretrial & retain voting rights, but practically it's super hard for them to vote.)

And then? Turnout soared — multiplied by roughly 10 over 2022:
Jail Voting Soars in Colorado After State Mandates Polling Places in County Lockups - Bolts
Local officials had claimed they were already giving detained people ballot access, but Colorado's first-in-the-nation mandate forced their hands and increased turnout across the state.

The executive director of Fair Wisconsin, an LGBTQ+ advocacy group, tells me she's heard from multiple families whose children's gender-affirming care was reinstated after my reporting.
BREAKING: After we published our story, the teen's mom received a call from the Wisconsin clinic rescheduling her appointment. Gathering more details ASAP. Still nothing public from the hospital. wisconsinwatch.org/2025/02/wisc...

When TB treatment is interrupted, patients are far more likely to develop drug-resistant TB, which is a catastrophe both individually (the disease becomes harder to cure) and societally (we're allowing the bacteria millions of new opportunities to develop further resistance). Many people will die.
