I had high hopes for this platform. Not sure why given the track record of social media. Watching so many recreate their terrible twitter habits here is disappointing, but “fool me twice” so it’s on me for expecting more.

You know what's awesome? Having your child rebutting with "Sorry, I'm not from the 1900s", and being shut down because they're absolutely correct.

There are no private accounts on Bluesky. The best you can do is change your moderation settings to discourage anyone who's not logged in from seeing your posts, but even that doesn't have to be honored by outside apps. Please be aware everything you say on this site is public by design.
To my knowledge, you can’t control who can see your replies, but you can control who sees your original posts. I am selective with what I post and what I say in replies so that I can control what can/can’t be seen. This is the internet, so we would be wise to measure our words.
