Dinovember Glow Up #21 - Pachycephalosaurus

Today we have a Pachycephalosaurus taking a break from veggies by snacking on an unfortunate Chamops. I thought it was time to do a full-grown adult of this animal after only doing subadults before.

Steppe lion enjoys the last days of summer.
But mornings are getting colder, winter is coming.

Dinovember Glow Up #20 - Psittacosaurus

Two thirds of the way now, and today we mark that with a young adult Psittacosaurus tending to some unruly babies. The older animal is not the parent, but a babysitting older sibling.

Dinovember Glow Up #19 - Carnotaurus

Today we have a male Carnotaurus enjoying a long sleep. Always nice to do theropods having some chill time.

Dinovember Glow Up #18 - Diplodocus

Today we have Diplodocus on a stroll, accompanied by an entourage of pterosaurs. This one was inspired by @tessasaurus.bsky.social's studies on Diplodocus skin. Also look out for a small easter egg from my wife.

Dinovember Glow Up #17 - Iguanodon

Today we have a bull Iguanodon relaxing under the base of a tall tree. As my favourite dinosaur, Iguanodon is one I always want to do justice, and I'm quite happy with how this one turned out.

Dinovember Glow Up #16 - Utahraptor

Into the second half of Dinovember now, and today we have a mated pair of Utahraptors enjoying the last scraps of their latest kill. At least, until something interrupts them.

Dinovember Glow Up #15 - Baryonyx

Halfway there now, and today we have a Baryonyx striding in an almost shoebill-like manner. Somehow its' stare doesn't appear as intense though.

Dinovember Glow Up #14 - Chasmosaurus

Today we have an angry Chasmosaurus engaging in an elaborate threat display; flushing blood into its' frill to create bright colours, and inflating a pair of nasal sacs.

Dinovember Glow Up #13 - Lambeosaurus

Today we have a Lambeosaurus quietly drinking from a stream. This 'zebra-pattern' is another colour scheme I've been using for years, and at this point I can’t imagine it looking any other way.

Dinovember Glow Up #12 - Protoceratops

A boar Protoceratops makes a quick getaway with an oviraptorid egg it stole from a nest. Best be quick so that the parent doesn't try to get it back.

Dinovember Glow Up #11 - Austroraptor

Day 11 arrives, and with it we have an Austroraptor swallowing a gar, its' most recent catch. Feathers are always a fun one.

Dinovember Glow Up #10 - Amargasaurus

Today we hit double digits, and with it we have an Amargasaurus striking a pose. Much has changed since I last drew this guy, notably Amargasaurus' neck spines being found to support a sail after all.

Dinovember Glow Up #9 - Edmontosaurus

Today's much-needed glow up is Edmontosaurus. Here we have a large bull, bearing the scars of a long and difficult life, but still walking with his head high.

An odd bony fish from the Kem Kem, Concavotectum. I'm still very out of my element with illustrating fish, but this fella had some very fun shapes to work with.

Dinovember Glow Up #8 - Daspletosaurus

In today's piece, a pair of Daspletosaurus get into a brutal and bloody fight. Given that we know that Daspletosaurus was cannibalistic, it's not unlikely that the winner will end up eating the loser.

Dinovember Glow Up #6 - Dilophosaurus

Just a Dilophosaurus sitting peacefully and enjoying a rest. A lot has changed about our perception of this animal since 2018, hopefully this successfully reflected in this particular glow up.

Of course the big paper on Azhdarchoid phylogeny comes out while I'm at a museum on a research visit (looking at Azhdarchoid cervicals, obviously) but now I'm back at the hotel so it's time to write a proper thread! 1/28

Dinovember Glow Up #5 - Ankylosaurus

Today we join an Ankylosaurus for lunch; the armoured giant making use of its' long muscular tongue to grab some higher branches. Ankylosaurs remain a challenge to draw with all their armour, but worth it.

Dinovember Glow Up #4 - Coelophysis

Onto Day 4, and love is in the air as a male Coelophysis has successfully wooed a female with an elaborate courtship display. Still using the same colour scheme for my Coelophysis even after all these years.

Dinovember Glow Up #2 - Pachyrhinosaurus

Today's piece is a lone Pachyrhinosaurus out for a stroll. It feels good to draw this dino again after a long time; the nasal boss was much easier to draw this time.

Surprise, more Kem Kem theropods! Here's a small indeterminate noasaurid, between 2-3m long, known from fragmentary remains. With smaller animals, I am drawn to vivid colours and flashier displays - like the speculative skin flap on the tail. Size comparison below ⬇️
