This is somewhat dramatised, but it's also an accurate explainer of my Sunday evening woes.

Come on a journey with me as I - an experienced developer - dive into old WordPress theme code, find myself in an enormous tangle, and question my competence.

Are there any PHP or Laravel people to help me with some coding? I would love to learn a bit more about how to resolve some WordPress based Laravel Blade support issues.

Anchor positioning + popover might be a new pattern to adopt for top navigation submenus. The idea that a submenu can automatically reposition itself if the popover might overflow a boundary is so compelling

Let's talk about the new popover feature added to HTML. I decided to create a few versions of a modal that contains a search form, just to both get experience as well as prove that this is a good new use of a popover. I am biased but I'm completely on board!

I’m nearing the end of the first phase of a website redesign, teaching myself new CSS, and sprinkling in some JS. Of the things I’m learning, I’m also rediscovering some old Safari linear-gradient issues and seeing some new Safari positioning bugs. (https://asuh.com/?p=2310)

With the spirit of using new widely supported, Baseline CSS rules, I’m implementing light-dark() as a simplified method to allow light and dark mode on a website. Unfortunately, using SVG images as background images exposes an edge case that led me to CSS masks.

@deck.blue I'm thankful your work on this app, it's refreshing to get a Tweetdeck experience. One issue I keep having is when I shut my laptop with this open in a tab. When I get back into my laptop later, Deck Blue is inactive. Every time, I have to reload the tab for it becmoe active again.

Reached a stopping point to update asuh.com using the new Forage theme I put together.

github.com/asuh/forage/

It's nice to remove so much #css from my previous iteration and simply things with some modern CSS.

Forage is a great tool for #wordpress classic theme developers. Next to try Gutenberg!

Jotted down some notes from observations of using Laravel Blade instead of just plain 'ole PHP. This is in relationship to the starter WordPress theme Forage that I'm working on.

Is Blade really that much more useful than PHP? It depends.

This week, I dropped #sass support in favor of native #css on my own site.

It didn't take long, converting Sass variables to CSS variables.

I also added a support for light-dark() and color-scheme. This allowed me to remove a lot of color and background-color rules.

This is fun!
