i’m excited to announce that i am hiring (again)!

i am looking for a postdoc in computational astrophysics that’s excited about models of stellar transients and multi-messenger astronomy to join my group (star stuff @ steward) at @uarizona.bsky.social!

apply here ✨💥: aas.org/jobregister/...

First paper officially published! 🎉

It just took three years, one Master's thesis and half my Ph.D. 😅 The next one should come sooner, though! 🤗

From Sandy Chiu: It is generally believed that the X-ray emission from cold-core clusters comes from hot gas. This paper explores another possibility: are these X-rays simply an illusion of inverse Compton scattering by cosmic rays? 🔭✨☄️

The Illusion of Cool Cores: X-ray Glows Powered by Cosmic Rays
It is generally believed that the X-ray emission from cold-core clusters comes from hot gas, where there is a delicate balance between gas cooling and feedback from active galactic nuclei. This paper ...

Thousands of galaxies fill the frame as a glowing galaxy group sits near the centre. Purple X-rays reveal hot gas, while foreground stars shine with diffraction spikes. A stunning blend of Webb, Hubble, Chandra & XMM-Newton data.

New paper just dropped! 📝

This is the first paper I've been working on, 2.5 years ago when I started my Master's. I'm really happy to see how it turned out and grateful to CAVITY and especially to Bahar for giving me the opportunity to work on it 😁

Rendezvous in CAVITY: Kinematics and gas properties of an isolated dwarf-dwarf merging pair in a cosmic void region
Galaxy mergers are pivotal events in the evolutionary history of galaxies, with their impact believed to be particularly significant in dwarf galaxies. We report the serendipitous identification of an...

For the first time ever, recorded atmospheric CO₂ has exceeded 430ppm! The last time CO₂ consistently reached today’s human-driven levels was ∼14 Million years ago, with shorter periods of similar levels around 3-5 Million years ago.
