Have you ever heard of Betty Webster? I hadn't until recently, and she co-discovered the first black hole ever found! Here's her story, to honor her memory and fantastic accomplishment.

The North Star, Polaris, stays in the same spot in the sky while others seem to move. But it's not really at the center. Check out Steve Brown's amazing #Astrophoto at https://bsky.app/profile/sjbastro.bsky.social/post/3letlckdbk22s for a demonstration.

Filters like hydrogen-alpha or OIII help capture specific wavelengths in deep-sky objects. This adds both complexity and cost, however, so consider using a One-Shot Color camera if these are concerns.

One of my favorite #Astrophotography targets! Well done!
Caroline's Rose (NGC 7789), is a richly populated open star cluster located in Cassiopeia. The eddies and swirls in the cluster resemble rose petals hence the name. I used a 4 vane diffraction mask on my 102mm refractor, which gives brighter stars visible artsy spikes.

Did you know that Outer Space is only 62 miles away? Although there is no official solid boundary for where space begins, the Kármán line sits at 62 miles (100km) above sea-level and is conventionally used as the start of outer space in space treaties or for aerospace records keeping.

I photographed the Pleiades star cluster last night. I was able to get much more of the dust surrounding the stars this year. This cluster is easily visible to the naked eye even in light-polluted areas, and looks fantastic through a pair of binoculars.

Did you know that Enceladus, one of Saturn’s smaller moons, reflects 90% of the Sun’s light? Because its icy surface reflects sunlight rather than absorbing it, temperatures reach as low as -394F (-201C).
