Yall international folks in 🔭
Do any of you give any weight to the astronomer telegram platform?
I came across it and it's not peer reviewed so idk if it holds any "real" importance to the astro community!

Folks - I’ve got 15 new invite codes for this place, to save people from that other horrible place.

Looking to hand them out to folks from:

• AUS / NZ / Pacific
• BIPoC communities
• Queer communities
• Astro folks

Let me know if you know folks in these categories that I can give the codes to!

So there was a huge Aurora going on (mainly during daylight in New Zealand), but there was another burst of energy around 9pm tonight when it was Kp7. I met some lovely Otago students at Blackhead Dunedin who were on their first aurora hunt. I didn't disappoint. 🇳🇿

If you're wondering what we're doing at the advanced astro school in kattamia
Enjoying jwst memes of course!

Myself and the kattamia observatory dome at sunrise🌅
A beautiful observatory out in the desert of Helwan in Egypt.
It took part in identifying potential landing sites for Apollo 11 among many other astronomical contributions

Stunning thread about the recet jwst discovery
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 '𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲'.

Ok, probably everyone has seen the headlines about K2-18b by now.

I've put together this thread to collate some thoughts on why many exoplanet astronomers are pretty sceptical about these claims - THREAD (1/N)

space is crazy yall
Ooooh okay we can do that. The planet in the archive that we have the longest measured period for is COCONUTS-2 b, with an orbital period of 402,000,000 days, or about 1.1 million years! It's 7500 times as far away from its star as we are from our Sun.
