the synonymization of 'non-binary' with 'non-transitioning' is honestly ahistorical. people may not have always used that term, but 'transsexual who doesn't fit into a clean gender category' has been a thing for about as long as transition as been a thing (which is longer than cis people think)
Medically transitioning while being nonbinary is not contradictory, nor is it particularly rare.

Spent the weekend at @cymerafestival.co.uk and had a wonderful Sunday helping @clevercrumbi.sh playtest her ttrpg The Family. I had particular fun ad-libbing the character of Seonaidh Kyle, an Each-uisge who's just champing at the bit to dispose of anyone who might threaten the seclusion of her loch
