While having terms for patterns of oppression is valuable, using them in arguments just makes people defensive and stops actual learning.
When engaging in conversations like that, I find that it is much better to replace "that's ___ist" with "this is harmful to ___ because ___."

Explained this to a family member that told me that they had to switch to calling homeless people "unhoused" this Thanksgiving. Debates like that are designed to obfuscate actual progress.
