The only way to stop awful behaviour by companies like @ryanairofficial.bsky.social is to boycott them.

I try not to fly these days but had to recently for medical treatment that couldn't be delayed. If I need to fly, I NEVER book @ryanairofficial.bsky.social
This, from the Guardian, is Ryanair at its very worst.

It's not good enough for them to insist that they're a low-cost airline and everyone knows the rules, in circumstances like this...

I wonder if legislation is needed?

Yes, legislation is needed but I for one will not be using @ryanairofficial.bsky.social again! This is disgraceful behaviour on their part, regardless of their rules!

@ryanairofficial.bsky.social And now when it comes to claiming compensation you are trying to dismiss claims for made up reasons, making bogus claims about receipts not containing details they clearly do. Shame on you. You abandoned people and won't even compensate people for your negligence.
