An absolutely mammoth few days but, as always, endlessly inspiring to hear the incredible work being done by the next generation of opera singers in our conservatoires and universities, and a privilege to meet them as they make their first steps into this weird and wonderful career. 2024 is done! 😁

A brilliant evening watching “Shakespeare Revisited” at the National Opera Studio tonight. A great mix of scenes and monologues by the current cohort of YA singers & pianists, wonderfully conducted by @colla-voce.bsky.social! Two more performances tomorrow, and only a handful of tickets left ☺️

At Glyndebourne, we're currently in the middle of chorus music calls for a very exciting new world premiere - UPRISING by Jonathan Dove. Our chorus is made up of 110 amateur singers (13-80 years old!). It's very wholesome, slightly chaotic, and a lot of fun 😁 We open Spring 2025 - do come!

I temporarily became very internet famous for getting the chatbot of parcel delivery firm DPD to write poems swear at me. Has news organisations from around the world contacting me for weeks afterwards...
