Yesterday’s guests planned their whole Argentina trip from Sol Salute and even called Erin “the Prophet.” On Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for partners who send such thoughtful travelers my way.

JD Vance says diversity weakens trust.
Anyone who’s ever worked in a kitchen knows that’s nonsense. (1 of 9)

Sweet, bitter, and smoky—that’s mate cocido quemado, made by caramelizing sugar with a live coal. One sip and you taste Argentina’s fire.

A morning walk with Palta turned into an unexpected art encounter. 🎨🐾

@vikaferreyra was painting the park fountain in Palermo Viejo—color, movement, and kindness spilling into the neighborhood.

Buenos Aires is blushing. 🌸

The lapacho rosado blooms in spring, turning plazas into pink clouds. Fleeting, fragile, unforgettable.

If Japan has cherry blossoms, Argentina has this.

Buenos Aires hospitality sometimes comes with four paws and a kiss. 🐾💋

🐧🍷 Ever seen wine poured from a penguin?
It’s a Buenos Aires tradition still alive at our table.

Charlie Kirk wasn’t killed for spreading hate, misinformation, and bigotry. In the end, he was targeted because some on the far right thought his hate didn’t go far enough.

It’s harder for me to get a decent specialty coffee in the Chicago suburbs than in Buenos Aires.

Sayulita in suburban Chicago—named after the beach town and bringing the seafood heat.
Guac with bite, elote with drama, shrimp with sauce. The kids want a rematch.

Landed in Chicago.
Went straight to breakfast—family tradition.

Challah French toast stacked with strawberries, blueberries, berry cream, and granola. Eggs and bacon on the side. Coffee in a mug older than TikTok.

Food first. Then hugs.

Just another Palermo corner… until Pum Pum shows up.

On my way to see new work by @pintaargentinaok, but this one by @holapumpum still stops me every time.

Street art lives here.

Some people celebrate Independence Day with empanadas and flags.

We celebrated with alfajores and chocolate.

70+ alfajores per person per year in Argentina. That’s not just a treat—it’s a national habit.

This is what freedom tastes like.

Hard to celebrate when the country feels so off.

Our dog walker canceled the walk this morning due to “extreme temperature”.

It’s 31F this morning in Buenos Aires.

It’s a good thing I have time to take her out today.

Jazz. Candlelight. Brioche with pâté. Coq au vin and red wine.
Le Rêve in Palermo is something else.
Wrote it all down:

Le Rêve: French Bistro Magic in Palermo, Buenos Aires
Step inside Le Rêve Bistró, a French bistro in Palermo Buenos Aires where velvet curtains, warm brioche, and candlelit coq au vin create a dreamy escape into Parisian elegance.

You’re in a Buenos Aires restaurant. Soda Stereo is on the speakers. The waiter says “Just so you know, it’s muy picante.”
It won’t be.
This is a country where pepper flakes feel like contraband.

Charred sweet peppers. Juicy steak. No filter, no fluff—just fire and flavor.

On Juneteenth, I think of Garibaldi.

He almost joined the Union Army—on one condition: that the war be about ending slavery.

Lincoln wasn’t ready in 1861.
So Garibaldi said no.

We talk about that moment on our Buenos Aires food + history tour.

Happy Juneteenth America!

On our last tour, the guide didn’t show.
The guests did.
So Elsa and I ran the whole thing — walk, fire, food, everything. 🧵

Built the fire for Father’s Day like I always do.

20 years making these burgers for the family.

But yesterday was No Kings Day. A different kind of fire got lit.
The real question isn’t what got lit.

It’s what we’ll build with it. 🔥🇺🇸

I left Chicago years ago and built a life in Buenos Aires.
On No Kings Day, I found myself reflecting on immigration, home, and why I haven’t looked back.

Took my daughters to Nicky Harrison, a hidden speakeasy behind a sushi bar in Palermo.
Jazz on vinyl. Cocktails in a fake 1920s newspaper.
Playing cards stuck to the ceiling.
Their first real drink.
I usually bring guests here on tour—this time, it was just for us.

Empanadas Riojanas from El Gauchito—flaky pockets of beef, egg, and northern pride. On May 25th, we honor Argentina’s revolution with a bite from La Rioja, one of the provinces that helped spark it.
History wrapped in dough.
