This is shocking, a number I wouldn't have imagined - around 600,000 women have undergone genital mutilation in Europe!
Around 600,000 women in EU countries have undergone some form of genital mutilation. But most cases remain hidden, where it is estimated that only about three percent of women who have suffered female genital mutilation appear in hospital records.
