Check out Iuliia's latest paper - a massive effort to test whether restoration efforts result in a trajectory towards the behaviour of undamaged #peatlands. Congratulations Iuliia 💐 and thank you for the opportunity to work with you on this study!

👋 #peatland scientists, if you are still at tomorrow morning, please do pay my colleague Bhaskar Mitra a visit at the poster sessions. He is presenting a metamodel simulation of carbon fluxes across an eroding and near natural blanket bog in Scotland. Hall X3, X3.33

Please go and see my colleagues Linda Toca and Fraser Macfarlane at #EGU2024 tomorrow at the Large Scale Mapping session, giving consecutive talks on water table dynamics and condition modelling. meetingorganizer.copernicus.org/EGU24/sessio.... Fantastic remote sensing work!

Thank you to the 41 participants today from all over Europe. We covered exciting progress in compiling GHG, H2O and energy observations from all kinds of peatlands, the power of multiple Earth Observations, and progress representing #peatlands in land surface and process models.
PIs and project partners from many EU countries meeting online today for the 1.5 year UKRI @peatmothership.bsky.social progress meeting and workshops. Really encouraging to see how peatland science is progressing. #PeatlandScience #Peat #Peat&BSky

Our team spent an interesting day with the BBC Scotland Landward team a few weeks ago. Lovely to see the end product and great to see everyone who could make it that day from our team on screen. It's on iplayer, if you'd like to see 1 of our 10 #flux sites. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...

Would you like to help climate scientists?

If so, today we launch our latest #WeatherRescue project.

Join other volunteers to transcribe lost weather observations. The mission is to recover pressure measurements taken in Oxford between 1828-1860.

440+ megatonnes of carbon "just" from 2023 wildfires in Canada is staggering and worrying for our planet.
If the smoke isn’t hitting the East Coast, Canadian wildfires are “out of sight out of mind” for many. But as this article explains, our wildfire season continues to accelerate. The area burned over the past week alone is equivalent to that of nearly an entire typical fire season across Canada.
Canada's hellish wildfire season accelerates into overtime

We had so much fun sharing ideas and results and helping each other shape what will eventually be several papers from @peatmothership.bsky.social. Thank you all for an intense two days.
