Narrative shift vibes

5/ High-level Trend #2: Price Volatility 📈

Price volatility is increasing due to various factors: (gas supply/price swings; wind production swings; etc.)

this puts pressure on market participants.
→ liquidity risk for utilities
→ planning/pricing risk for consumers/demand-side

4/ In a similar vein, trade cooperation/integration between the EU electricity market and Ukraine and Moldova is increasing 🇪🇺🇺🇦🇲🇩

This mainly impacts long-term (LT) transmission rights between Ukraine & neighbors such as Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.

Step-by-step integration.

3/ I have written about this move in an earlier Delphi Zero essay:

The objective is to make Baltic EU countries less dependent on energy flows from Russia → i.e. less infrastructure/energy risk in case of direct conflict.

2/ High-level Trend #1: Market Integration & Energy Security

🇱🇻🇱🇹🇪🇪 Synchronization of the Baltic grid happened in Feb'25
→ from Russian grid to EU grid

Grid connections and electricity trade is not only a measure of market expansion but energy security.

Cool essay/summary.

Below is my personal definition of 'narrative' - would be curious to hear what you think about that.

Have written about it at length in this series: delphizero.substack.com/p/future-myt...

Such a gut punch.

Just published an interview with a marine biologist who specializes in polar regions. Here stories really hit home why good data/science on about these latitudes matters.

Sad what's happening now w/ scientifically-minded institutions in the US.

Overall good. Hope that weakens the "natty gas for missing capacity ∂" narrative

For context, after the 2019 UK outage I mentioned earlier the grid operator published an interim report in 1 week and a full report in 1 month. Admittedley more was known even within 24 hours (ie which plants faulted, broadly how the system responded). But it still takes time to do a proper autopsy.
