📊 Bootstrapped and sold Perengo Inc. (programmatic ad platform)
⚡️ Energy Law @TU Berlin (research focus on EU electricity markets & energy storage) #energysky
4/ In a similar vein, trade cooperation/integration between the EU electricity market and Ukraine and Moldova is increasing 🇪🇺🇺🇦🇲🇩

This mainly impacts long-term (LT) transmission rights between Ukraine & neighbors such as Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.

Step-by-step integration.

3/ I have written about this move in an earlier Delphi Zero essay:

The objective is to make Baltic EU countries less dependent on energy flows from Russia → i.e. less infrastructure/energy risk in case of direct conflict.

2/ High-level Trend #1: Market Integration & Energy Security

🇱🇻🇱🇹🇪🇪 Synchronization of the Baltic grid happened in Feb'25
→ from Russian grid to EU grid

Grid connections and electricity trade is not only a measure of market expansion but energy security.

1/ Time to sift through ENTSO-E's Market Report, which they released yesterday.

My Qs:
- What happened between June'24 and May'25?
- What are current trends?
- What are risks and opportunities?

Will share what grabs my attention in this thread 🧵

Cool essay/summary.

Below is my personal definition of 'narrative' - would be curious to hear what you think about that.

Have written about it at length in this series: delphizero.substack.com/p/future-myt...

Question for #energysky - Can you point me to some experts on EU NCCS (Network Codes on Cyber Sec) for electricity grids?

Would love to get a more "on the ground" picture beyond the legal texts & EU publications.

→ Actual efficacy
→ Preparedness
...etc.

Thanks in advance 🙏

5/ The EU Inc is an important first step in making Europe more resilient.

Much more work to do. But stories like Andreas' initiative of mobilizing people to lobby on behalf of the 28th regime and creating a real policy shift is a beacon of hope.

Let's go Europe! 🇪🇺

4/ The solution is the "EU Inc." - also known as the "28th regime"

Pan-european standards:
- digital incorporation
- company registry
- legal docs (like EU SAFE)
- hiring

Sign the petition here: www.eu-inc.org
Read about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/28th_re...

3/ EU is lagging behind in terms of high-tech.

The US and China have a leg up. And given the current re-shuffle of geopolitical alliances, EU must wake up and strengthen its resilience.

What's the suggestion?

1/ If you are a European and haven't heard of Andreas Klinger, then buckle up.

Andreas - founding CTO of Product Hunt and investor via his Prototype Capital - is currently working Brussels to make Europe more competitive.

His message: "Europe needs to be a player, not a playground."

A thread 🇪🇺

Ok, seems like you can start using the service by clicking one of the "suggested prompts" and it will open a conversational interface

Meta wants to push Llama via your daily interface (Whatsapp)

Curious to see what this will do to OpenAI's usage numbers (especially if Whatsapp stays free)
March 29, 2025 at 8:28 PM
It asks you to review the updated terms (which I haven't done yet) before you can start using the service
March 29, 2025 at 8:26 PM
then, there seems to be a button to enter a business chat with "Meta AI"
March 29, 2025 at 8:25 PM
Does your Whatsapp search interface also look like this?

Seems like Meta shifting their attention to utilize (long-term monetize) the app.

Thoughts?

Fascinating article.

Tl;dr seems that most transformers are built-to-order and that's what's causing bottlenecks.

Q for #energysky - Why isn't there more standardization in transformer production?

Antarctica comes from ἀνταρκτικός - "antarktikos" or “opposite the bear.”

No bears but lots of penguins 🐧
March 19, 2025 at 7:11 PM
Trivia Wednesday: Why is it called Antarctica?

Arctic comes from the Greek word ἀρκτικός - "arktikos" or “near the bear” - and refers to the star constellation Ursa Major mainly found in the northern sky. Also, polar bears are only found in the Arctic/northern regions.

DFC (Development Finance Corp) created during Trump's first term might morph into US "Sovereign Wealth Fund"
March 13, 2025 at 7:34 PM
A concrete example are energy projects in Africa (e.g. Lake Turkana Wind Power in Kenya)

The signed take-or-pay PPA locks the Kenyan utility into paying Sh16/kWh (3x of current market prices)
March 13, 2025 at 7:31 PM
tl;dr: "Development is no longer a public good to be directly financed by states, but a market opportunity to be unlocked through the alchemy of public-private partnerships (PPP) into “investible,” privately-owned projects."

substitute USAID with Private Equity and you know wassup

they are so cool.

Humpbacks are currently my faves. Saw this guy around the Antarctic peninsula.

Sent this to a friend for a trend report.

Some thoughts on the topic of "climate tech is dead" and what this means to me

tl;dr: Climate Tech is becoming too broad of a term. It makes sense to increase the fidelity of nomenclature for companies/market segments.

Any thoughts? #energysky

Finished watching "Culinary Class Wars" yesterday.

Wow! What a show.

It inspired me so much that I'll have to share my thoughts on my climate newsletter. Sounds random? Might be... but I think there are some things to learn from this show.

4/ CUSTOMIZED FEEDS 📺

Quick & easy way to curate different feeds for different purposes.

On Twitter, I did that with lists. But here, you have more flexibility of curating a feed based on:
- Users
- Topics
- [Combination of the above]
- ...

Very useful.
