I am at a loss how to circumscribe the kind of literature I want. The unfiltered most popular lists of both music and literature are unbearably repulsive to me, but with music I know how to find the fringe that I enjoy. Not so with books. My only apt term is "grimdark". What words am I missing?

I'm very late to it, but I can't remember the last time I breezed through a book as swiftly as 'Thief' by @mattcolville.bsky.social, maybe Pratchett years ago. I don't like anything TTRPG anymore but the man's prose is as good as any I've ever read.

A novel doesn't need to appeal to anyone specifically to be good. In fact pandering might make it worse. But I frequently met claims that contemporary fiction has been subsumed by explicitly female-oriented romance, and that men don't read novels anymore. #writing #authors #fiction #booksky #books
Of Men and Fiction
A personal inquiry on the appeal of fiction to men, and why we abandoned the field to romantasy slop.

@gorangligovic.bsky.social Goran I beg you to please collect all the covers you were commissioned to do for works of literature in one place, because it means that the authors have good taste, and I want to read their books.

I re-uploaded the Q&A video for "Return to the Land of the Free" to YouTube to reflect the 2nd edition and to replace my unbearable voice with a marginally less unbearable AI one. That's the only AI involvement in my work, I promise.

What moronic comment do I need to make to draw this much attention to my horribly written fantasy novel?
Some guy tried to mock MGS2's Fatman, then people dug up that guy's self published novel and it's the funniest meme I've seen on Twitter in a while

It's been one year since the publication of 'Return to the Land of the Free'. No double digit number of people will ever read it, and that's ok. Writing the book provided answers, and I'm content with learning. If you ever chance across it, be kind, it's a rare creature.

Fun fact: writers don't 'finish' books, we just eventually stop editing before we spiral into madness.

I knew that women are keeping a vast market of smut novels afloat, but looking at writing/novel/book hashtags for promo purposes has left me shocked and humbled by its pervasion.
