Seriously, even given the hassles listed there (none of which are really that bad), what's worse is when the platform you're using shutters or removes features and you have to find a replacement. Never have to do that with a personal website. It's why they'll never go away.

Yes, they're all in side chapters which are very easy to miss because there's no indication in game of how to access them

Right, and not only that but also in that game if you don't keep enough uses on the legendary weapons you won't be able to complete the chapter before endgame with the hundred manaketes

And in one of the games there's twelve of them and if you break even one of them you can't fight the real final boss

Allan Holtz says it ran until 1966, but it was reprinted in some foreign markets in the late 60's

Yeah, even if people do only associate them with NieR, you would hope they would be thinking "So they produce work that's of the same high quality as what they did for NieR?" not "So they produce beautiful but depressing stuff for weird video games?"

It's weird, when I first heard about them I was skeptical too, but I find it's a really interesting way to not only revisit old games I've loved before but to see them in new ways and learn things about them. Now I love them even more

The amount of documentation something has is always an indicator to me of how much it seems like a dev really wants me to use it. If there's hardly any (and especially if the website advertises how "easy" it is to install, despite the lack of install instructions) I just skip it

A lot of movies based on newspaper comics are not that great, but Friday Foster is legitimately very good, and she's very good in it.

Yeah, remember when the next big thing was uh... selling receipts? And people fell for it??

The word I would use is "exploitation"

Oh, of course. I generally disagree with most opinions that are printed in The Comics Journal (especially about Eisner), but I still have great respect for them for doing what they do
October 25, 2025 at 1:56 AM
Unsurprising. The Comics Journal have been Eisner haters for decades
