The Trinity College seniors once invented a fake entrepreneurship award so they could invite RO to dinner. He didn’t understand that he was being roasted, and gave a very earnest speech in the dining hall. When he was done, we all roared drunkenly and pounded the tables. He was pleased.

I just read it this afternoon, after the event at Bakka. Loved it! It’s my favourite story in the anthology so far.

Something about the lighting in this photo makes me think of decorating magazines from the 1970s, with shaggy seventies people lounging on the furniture, maybe eating some wieners in jello.

Something I love about archival films is that when someone had a couple feet of film left on a roll they'd often use it to film their cat. So many films finish with a few seconds of cats

So, here's some cats from the 1950s and 60s. They were loved

Scanned from 8mm films

A copy of the source, which appears in the book Law, Sex and Christian Society in Medieval Europe by James A. Brundage, a historian of canon law.

I found the book How Markets Fail, about the 2008 recession, instructive for questions like this. Basically there are a lot of finance bros whose jobs depend on making big money up to the last nanosecond before the market crashes. They all know very well the crash is coming.

When you use AI that way, it’s like you’re asking the question by addressing it through your dog. “Hey Sparky, let’s ask this lady about where to find…” It. Is. Rude!
