a major problem with bluesky is that i can offhandedly remark "i hate drawing, its too hard" and then a sweet old lady will gently encourage me and kindly point me to some useful resources to get started drawing and i dont know what to do with myself

This is Huda Susï. We followed each other some days ago. Yesterday I found out that she was killed in the bombings. We could have been friends. I never got to know you Huda but rest in your heavenly abode and we will meet in the nest life. I feel so much pain and loss that words can't describe it.

i am no longer up for debating whether palestinians deserve to live. the answer is an emphatic yes, palestinians deserve to live with dignity and freedom. nothing will ever justify a genocide. killing more than 7,000 civilians who belong to a distinct ethnic group in less than a month is a genocide.

I read this piece by the Israeli human rights lawyer Michael Sfard in 2016. I remember at the time thinking that he had nailed it, and I've thought about this piece often since then. I just googled to find it again this evening; it still rings so, so true. Even as far away as peace feels now.

Weird how the folks who spent the past 7 years turning "Cancel cCulture" into a political cudgel have no issues with a nation-state hiring PR firms to literally hunt down & get people fired & expelled for expressing beliefs on social media that are in opposition to their own.
