for ex. whatever your thoughts on citrus (2012 - 2018) it had such an influence on post 2010s chinese lesbian net culture that the 🍊 had become a subcultural marker for lesbians & sapphics. bloom into you (2015 - 2019) similarly basically re-introduced yuri drama to mass audiences in the west

whenever ppl wonder why GL is still really niche please do note that the combo of touhou/game + otaku doujin subcultures, shoujosei manga, & shakaijin yuri really crystallized in new ways by the 2010s & then worked alongside femslash culture, baihe culture, even later ... the scene grows
i'm so so so so happy we are living through the Modern GL Renaissance that only really sparked worldwide in the mid 2010s which is unbelievably recent. yuriscene is so new and growing everywhere with all kinds of subcultures and experimental works ...
