sure you could, it's like . . . you just need the right motivation. i was mocked in class once, early on, for not recognizing the Russian translation of the Taming of the Shrew (my classmates thought I wasn't familiar with Shakespeare) and it was a great motivator.

why? i learned russian to study there, it seems a pretty ordinary thing. there was decent scientific knowledge in russian (i translated some decent scholarly papers) although of course I personally couldn't manage to love it & stick to it.
