Should this be what we value? I don't think so. They are going after individuals who are valued members of their communities. Why?
“As former president Joe Biden has often said, ‘Show me your budget, and I’ll tell you what you value.’ Today, American values point in one direction: expanding the immigration police state.”
Thanks @crampell.bsky.social for this important piece on the dangers of the huge ICE expansion.
ICE is eating the federal budget.
Thanks to the Big Beautiful Bill, we will spend more this year on ICE than on most other law enforcement agencies combined.

We need to place ownership for what's going on where it belongs. And we need to go out and win more seats. We can do it.

It is time to focus instead on the MAGA culprits.

Our service members are not political props. They signed up to defend the country 🇺🇸, its people, and our constitution. They are not partisan, they are all of us and the should not be used for partisan purposes.
The Fort Bragg speech was not just an instance of inappropriate rhetoric—it was a strategic use of military ritual as political theater, a calculated spectacle repurposing the presence and aesthetics of military ritual to signal partisan alignment, strength, and domestic dominance.🧵

The administration's ongoing comment that no one has died because of the USAID cuts is just wrong. Good for @npr.org for trying to looking into it. A harrowing, but important listen.

Want to know what habeas corpus is? Here's a great description.

I also have an issue with a head of DHS who doesn't know what it means. Those enforcing our immigration laws need to be know and follow our laws. Period.
Bravo Sen. Maggie Hassan for your clear explanation:

Habeas corpus: The legal principle that requires that the government provide a public reason for detaining and imprisoning people. Without habeas corpus the government could arrest people and hold them indefinitely for no reason. 🧵
HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

HASSAN: That's incorrect

I couldn't agree more. With this point and the points in this article. Support indep. media.

"The danger of making corporate media the Democrats’ message distribution system is that they aren’t on the Democrats’ side. Corporate media exists to serve its shareholders, its bottom line, and" itself.
"In an environment where attention is our most valuable and scarce resource, talking about Biden’s mental state comes at the expense of talking about other things— namely Trump’s corruption, which, unlike Biden’s health, actually impacts us."

An excellent read and points yet again to people who proclaim their christianity yet purposefully harm the poor and displaced. I'm thrilled that the Catholic church will continue to be a voice for the poor and displaced who don't have a voice.

Listening to the WH press briefing today, I'm struck by their ongoing messaging attacking the previous administration. While they can certainly point out differences between this administration and the previous one, it's so partisan to keep blaming the prior administration. Why not be FOR things?

What is happening to Social Security is terrifying. Americans pay into this system throughout their careers so it can be there for them when they can no longer work. My elderly parent is now becoming afraid of losing part of her income. She is 96. Why are we doing this to the elderly?
