Camille Claudel (1864-1943) - sculptor. I just started this embroidered portrait. I’m using a lovely wine colored vintage silk floss. Not sure if it is colorfast, so we shall see. If it runs, I will be ok with it. I think I might be oddly disappointed if it doesn’t.

Finished an embroidered portrait of Grace Hudowalski (1906-2004). She co-founded what woukd become the Adirondack Forty-Sixers and was the first woman to officially summit all 46 of the Adirondack High Peaks, #9 over all. East Dix was renamed Grace Peak in her honor in 2014. #embroidery #history

Women’s History Month! Caroline Lucretia Herschel (1750–1848)

Caroline was a German astronomer who discovered several comets & she was the first woman to receive the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1828.
