@aprilisgenx.bsky.social
Just an ordinary disabled Pittsburgh Democratic voter. I'm on Instagram, Spoutable, & Threads as aprilisgenx and Twitter as April_Sassy.
I am a SNAP recipient in PA.

My full SNAP benefits for November were just loaded onto my EBT card.

I think orange man lost the battle to starve 42 million people.

I am one of the 42m on SNAP. I was due a SNAP payment today & didn't receive it. The food banks are overwhelmed.

Oh, & I didn't vote for any of this because I voted for Kamala Harris & all Democratic candidates down-ballot last November.

I got this nice little postcard from Portland, OR, about the 3 PA Supreme Court retention elections tomorrow.

I already voted "Yes" to retain all 3 judges by mail, but thank you, Tina, for the postcard, and for paying attention to a very important but underreported election.

I just got my COVID and Flu vaccines today and will be taking Tylenol.

GFY, anti-vaxxers & conspiracy theorists.

I was homeless as a 7-year-old child.

I won't accept Brian Kilmeade's apology.

His apology isn't genuine & was forced by higher-ups.

I know how he really feels about homeless people.
Brian Kilmeade apologized for his comments about homeless people getting lethal injections this morning on Fox & Friends, saying "so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion."

Here's the clip of his apology 👇

Brian Kilmeade endorses euthanizing homeless people: "Involuntary lethal injection, or something. Just kill them."

I have no empathy for someone who wanted to force a 10-year-old to carry her rapists fetus.

This is the most important election in November in PA: The 3 PA Supreme Court retention elections.
I will vote Yes on the retention of Judges Christine Donahoe, Kevin Dougherty, & David Wecht in November.
The MAGA campaign to capture our courts is here so let’s go: A vote to retain the 3 justices of PA’s Supreme Court means free and fair elections in 26 and 28, and no gerrymandering. It means women keep the right to choose. It means freedom of speech and religion. Pass it on.

I vaguely remember a bunch of leftists in 2016 telling us that the SCOTUS was not enough of a reason to vote for Hillary. I vaguely remember them telling me not to worry about the SCOTUS. Any one else remember something like this happening?
BREAKING: By an apparent 6–3 vote, the Supreme Court halts an injunction that had prevented immigration agents from racially profiling Latinos in central California.

Sotomayor, dissenting, says the decision is "unconscionably irreconcilable with our nation's constitutional guarantees."

I stand with President Zelenskyy and the Ukranian people and refuse to post the events of what's happening in Alaska today (but thank you, pro-Ukraine protesters in Alaska).

You know how people called women hysterical for predicting the right wing would take down Roe v. Wade (which they've done) and then attack access to birth control (which they're doing)?

Hear me when I say that women's very right to vote is next.

My team and I are aware of the tragic explosion at the U.S. Steel Clairton.

My heart is with the workers, especially those injured or trapped, their families, first responders, and the entire Clairton community.

Please follow local guidance and avoid the area as we gather more information.

I'm never gonna need a Conor Lamb apology form over that primary over 3 years ago because I proudly voted for him.

I love telling the left who now have regrets and harassed me 3 years ago over my Lamb support, "I told you so."
Democrats chose John Fetterman over Conor Lamb. Now there are regrets.

Progressives are wondering if maybe they were a little too tough on the once up-and-coming lawmaker.

This is partly because of the impending lockout for the 2027 season and mostly because Bob Nutting is a cheapskate owner who won't spend money on a competitive baseball team. Cherington will likely remain GM until the end of next season, too.

Then certainly you would agree to support increasing the SNAP payments and building grocery stores in food deserts so poor folks can afford to buy healthy foods, right?

How O'Connor beat Gainey for Pittsburgh mayor

Gainey's support in the vote-heavy 14th Ward cratered, and O'Connor swept up most of the votes that went to 3rd-place candidate last time. More: www.publicsource.org/pittsburgh-m...

I won't post the implictly racist mailer that some Pittsburgh voters got, but no matter how folks in Pittsburgh feel about Mayor Ed Gainey, that mailer is awful and wrong and should be called out, whether you plan to vote for Ed Gainey or Corey O'Connor next month.

FYI, that mailer was from a PAC.

Thank you for this post. I know the 🍊🍕💩 isn't gonna respond, but thanks anyway.
The Supreme Court made a unanimous decision, saying the lower Court’s order “properly requires the Government to ‘facilitate’ Abrego Garcia’s release.”

Calling on the White House to follow this directive.

The remedy for this blatantly unconstitutional attitude - that they can do whatever they want to Abrego Garcia - is for senators to stand up and be senators and judges to stand up and be judges.

And for us to keep insisting on it. Trump wants you to think they’re powerless but they’re not.

Chasten and I are relieved that Governor Shapiro and his family are safe. While we wait to learn more, this much is clear: the targeting of a public official and his family - especially a prominent Jewish official on a major Jewish holiday - is unconscionable and has no place in our country.
