My employer got a call-out for one possible move toward more meaningful coursework!

This is the weaponization of the supermom myth--the idea that kids are under threat and that the only way to keep them safe is for moms to sacrifice themselves (i.e., by spending hours researching to keep kids safe from vaccines, rather than trusting the government to keep kids safe from measles).
4/ He promotes what sociologists call "intensive parenting," as a superior way to ensure kids are safe. That's a time/labor-intensive & stressful form of parenting many US *mothers* feel pressured to follow due to cultural norms/expectations around mothers as primary caregivers.

Investing in social services & community intervention works. San Antonio saw a 37% drop in violent crime, and Houston saw a 13% reduction in homicides. Smart solutions save lives. #TexasGunSense #GunSenseMajority

I’ve felt really alone as I have discussed my concerns for brain-drain in my state and now in our nation this year. Others often urge me not to overreact.
We need social scientists to inform/assess policy impacts on human behavior & guard against social breakdown

Let’s play this out… if 10% of the federal workforce leave their jobs or are laid off or fired… that will mean substantially higher job seekers on the market. This likely will drive down wages, hurting all job seekers.
Meanwhile, tariffs increase prices. Anybody see where this is going?

This.
Education and social science researchers are speaking truths right now and we feel like we’re screaming into the abyss.
They're dismantling the Institute for Education Sciences to create the illusion of meritocracy. Because no data means no evidence of systemic inequities.

Never have I been more relieved that I did not win a grant for my research.
Banned words include "female" and "women," but not "male" or "men."
🚨BREAKING. From a program officer at the National Science Foundation, a list of keywords that can cause a grant to be pulled. I will be sharing screenshots of these keywords along with a decision tree. Please share widely. This is a crisis for academic freedom & science.

As a scholar, researcher, advocate, & student, I am very concerned about the lasting impact of the new policies.

Those who work in publicly funded institutions in conservative states likely feel unable to speak or write openly about their views or how these policies affect them & their industries.

And for everyone else, let’s not fail to see that sec 2d and 2e appear to be a sneaky way to enshrine in law that upon conception, a fully human life exists.

Listening to @rebeccalindenbach.bsky.social on the Bare Marriage Podcast today, I realized how much has changed in my parenting now that I have a true partner. Because of how I am supported by partner, I find I am far less inclined to care whether my kids “like” me or how I parent them.
