Birth rates are falling across the developed and developing world.

What does this mean for the future? Should we be concerned? No.

A smaller world should be celebrated! 🌍🥂🎉

For people asking: "What good things have Labour actually done?"

They've done quite a lot actually. It's not enough. But it's a good start.

I appreciate @ewanmg.bsky.social saying the blatantly obvious.

Renationalising water is FREE there is literally no financial reason to NOT DO THIS.

Market based "solutions" create more problems than they solve.

People over profit wins out every time.

The rise of far right has been a multi-decade process now.

More and more lines are being crossed every day.

So it begs the question, how far are people willing to go?

If Hitler came back, could he actually win?

Crazy to think that Dems used to be the structurally dominant party in American politics just once upon a time.

Democrats controlled the House for 40 UNINTERRUPTED YEARS and they controlled the senate for 26 YEARS UNINTERRUPTED.

They really fumbled the bag.

As much as I respect Zarah splitting the progressive vote is the last thing we need.

The only thing you are ensuring is a Reform victory in 2029.

Don’t do this.
Today, after 14 years, I’m resigning from the Labour Party.

Jeremy Corbyn and I will co-lead the founding of a new party, with other Independent MPs, campaigners and activists across the country.

The U.S. is like a trust fund kid blowing their money on booze, drugs and hookers and promising to be better next time.

But next time never comes.

Both parties promise to get the debt down and they never do it.

$37 trillion of debt is wildly unsustainable!

Tax rises are inevitable.

If they spin this right, a tax on the super rich in the autumn might work.

Labour promised no tax increases for “working people” right? So tax the freeloading wealthy!

Poorly led, strategically inept and shorn of democracy. Now I truly fear for this Labour government | John McDonnell
The welfare bill passed, but it was chaos. A party this dysfunctional and divided cannot escape the wrath of voters at the next election, says John McDonnell, former Labour shadow chancellor

Absolutely this. The lesson Starmer should be taking here is that the most any Labour politicians have connected with the public all year is the "rebels" over the last week. Ditch the world's worst spin doctors and start actually thinking and behaving like the Labour government people voted for.
It should be no surprise whatever that 150 Labour MPs actually wanted to make people's lives better. That's what the party is for. Some of them did actually stand to change things. Starmer needs that, not more triangulation and poll-pivoting.

In 2013, around 51% of all transactions were made in cash, but a decade later in 2023, this fell to 12%.

Cash is in decline and it must be protected.

This will literally change nobody's lives.

Even if they change the language, nobody will read the bills.

Why don't they modernise campaign finance rules instead?
🚨 NEW: The Modernisation Committee is planning to change Parliament's outdated and "confusing" language over fears it alienates the public

Terms such as Bill (proposed law), Division (vote), and Early Day Motions (used by MPs to raise issues) are all set to change

Let’s see how this goes in 4 years time.

My take is a Labour minority government with a coalition involving the Lib Dems.

No chance in hell Reform are getting in. I bet that lot can’t even make a decent PowerPoint.
🚨 NEW | Reform projected to win most seats

➡️ REF – 271 (+266)
🔴 LAB – 178 (-233)
🟠 LD – 81 (+9)
🔵 CON – 46 (-75)
🟡 SNP – 38 (+29)
🟢 GRN – 7 (+3)

To those arguing for statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico, think of how unsatisfying it would be to have 104 senators instead of a nice, clean 100.
