PGCE Tutor and former history teacher with an American West obsession. All views my own…I think. #UKTeaching #historyteacher #PGCE
On 11 Nov 1920 an unknown WWI soldier was buried at Westminster Abbey. His tomb spoke of glorious sacrifice. But the 1.2 million people who came to see the grave that week saw not glory but the embodiment of the human cost of war: every spouse, parent, or child who never came home.

Lest WE forget

World Class or Bottom of the Class? A Deep Dive into the Curriculum and Assessment Review

It's taken a while to digest but here are my initial thoughts on the Review and its implications for schools and school History #historyteacher #EduSky #CurriculumReview

A few poems my 8yo has penned recently.

Cannot express how much I love watching her starting to fall in love with poetry and being creative through words.

It is amazing to me how imaginatively children can interpret the world and around them when they have the time and space ❤️❤️

Back from 4 amazing days on a PhD course in Sweden focusing on Education and Bildung in the Anthropocene. Tarnished only by the absolute car crash (pun intended) which is the UK public transport system

As a history teacher who has taken hundreds of children to sites of remembrance in Belgium and France, this just makes me deeply sad

Another funding round and another kick in the teeth for PGCE History!!

Notably this year there is no core funding for English teachers either, who join Business, Music, PE, RE and others out in the cold.

In a cost of living crisis, this is directly impacting who gets to train.

It honestly makes my blood boil. And yet we have a government and a pseudo opposition intent on focusing us all on the impact of undocumented immigration!
