Archery tryhard
Had a lovely chat about archery and where people who have transitioned can and should compete. The guidance is not perfect, but more progressive than most sport.

To make it perfectly clear: Trans men are men. Trans women are women.

Really enjoyable short story. Im a bit Scalzi fanboy anyway, but this was a lovely take on time travelling. Malcolm Hillgartner did a great job with the narration on audible, too.
To the person whose post I can no longer find who asked why I chose Amazon to publish my short story 3 Days, 9 Months, 27 Years: It was the other way around, Amazon asked me to write the story for an anthology they were publishing, and then paid me what I consider an acceptable rate for it.

This week, I will mostly be fan-girling over sumo. The torikumi for day 1 of the London tournament
is out and the final match is Onosato Vs Ura!

I had a dentist appointment earlier lasting 7 minutes, costing £400. I was well aware of the costs beforehand, and were justified, but fuck me did it still feel bad.

Gearing up for the sumo tournament in London. Do I get a radio? Or a program? Or book a table for food beforehand? Then I rememberd I haven't booked a hotel yet...

I mean, "unique hats" are kind of a "fantasy author" thing; you got George, and Terry Pratchett had his, and even Steven Brust has that going for him, I think if you're a science fiction author you're limited to a beanie with a propeller on top
Might I suggest a unique hat that is underutilized in today's fashions?

I had some bubble tea today, with the nice tapioca boba. For the rest of the day I've had this little gem, curtesy of @brainmage.bsky.social:

Why do they call it kidney stones and not boba wee?

I've seen a post on a local facebook group rallying for anti immigration protests.

Their profile picture was a Union Jack and Ukranian flag. Easiest game of "spot the racist" Ive ever played.

Discovering there is a new series of only connect has made my week.

Everything else has been shocking, but I do really like only connect!

I've started a course of invisalign-alike braces. I have come to both enjoy and loathe that 'new aligner' feel. Like watching a dog chew a toffee. Which, ironically, I can't currently do.

As I've said frequently, it's all right to acknowledge some work was important to you, and also, that the person who created it is a real shitheel. If the latter means you can't hang with the work anymore, that's fine. I have a list of people whose work I'll maybe come back to once they're dead.
> raging fucknuckles

How do you handle loving the work of an actor, artist, musician, etc when you find out they're truly horrible people? Not just "meh", but the fucknuckle end of the spectrum.

I have some stuff I love, but I find it hard to make peace with that now.

I had a lovely evening nerding out about bow tuning. Then I got _that_ feeling that IBD sufferers dread 5 minutes into a 70 minute drive home.

Throw in some road closures for shits n giggles and you have a very tense Apache who is definitely not giggling.

I was looking up the record of the latest Yokozuna in grand sumo, Onosato. It is absolutely crazy. There is only 1 wrestler that has fought him more than twice and has a winning record against him. It's the other Yokozuna; Hoshoryu
