Pregnant women in ICE custody report being shackled, isolated, ignored while miscarrying. Here, in our country, under our leaders.

We’re all tired. But choosing to stay informed, even a little, is how cruelty loses its cover. Silence is how it spreads.

MAGAZINER: How many veterans have you deported?

NOEM: We haven't deported veterans

MAGAZINER: We are now joined on Zoom by a combat veteran you deported to Korea

You’ve heard of turducken.

You know, the chicken-in-the-duck-in-the-turkey thing that John Madden loved.

Now meet its far superior cousin: the stuffed chicken wing.

Eggroll stuffings… inside a chicken wing.

The kind of innovation I’m here for. Practical, comforting, and brilliant.

Most American Christmas story ever? Thanks, Reels.

Martha Stewart selling prison nativity replicas. Nothing says holiday spirit like a redemption arc in a ceramic manger.

But data shows 27% ‼️unemployment for formerly incarcerated.

We need programs that prepare for re-entry; manger optional.

I’m back (after some nudging) and ready to dive into the politics, people, and community moments shaping our world. Let’s get talking again. ❤️

At 27, I read “Babies vs. Career?” & panicked. Then ignored the advice. I chose both—and then some. 3 bio kids, 1 adopted, 10 foster, 1 extended-stay teen. All while working full-time. No perfect time, just a full life. To all who mother: caring is leadership. #HappyMothersDay #WIPolitics

If the new Pope’s from Chicago, does that make us Vatican North? Asking for all of Wisconsin. #pope #wipolitics

We ❤️ a good rivalry. Brewers vs Cubs. Coke vs. Pepsi. But Canada? C’mon. The longest undefended border in the world 5,525 miles. No walls, no armed patrols, just a pinky promise saving $Bs in defense costs.

Cnda buys more U.S. exports than China/Japan/U.K. combined. So let’s stop poking the moose.

A bipartisan proposal to allow postpartum Congresswomen remote vote options was blocked by Speaker Johnson as “unconstitutional.” B/c nothing threatens democracy more than postpartum congresswoman voting.

Congress allowed proxy voting during the pandemic. This isn’t about rules—it’s about power.
Colorado's Rep Brittany Pettersen (D) flew cross-country with her one-month-old to vote against the GOP budget tonight. Dems ended up one vote short. Pettersen was part of an unsuccessful bipartisan push to allow new mothers to vote remotely. #copolitics

The USAID bloodbath has me rewatching Charlie Wilson’s War—because, soft power.

So much can be achieved w/ relationships/influence/ persuasion aka soft power. Wilson charmed & won over bureaucrats, global leaders, policymakers 2 change minds. Influence, as much as firepower, determines history.

At a time when public servants—especially those in the legal system—face increasing attacks, this case is a reminder of their essential role. The enforcement of the False Claims Act is just one example of how their work safeguards our economy, our national security, and the integrity of government.

I remember well the stigma associated w/ color-coded lunch tickets that indicated whether you paid full price, reduced, or got a free meal. No kid should have to navigate that, and no kid should go hungry at school. Ensuring kids have access to a healthy meal without stigma is the right thing to do.
Our kids should never go hungry, period, but especially not at school. Let’s end school meal debt and make sure every kid has a healthy breakfast and lunch at school with no stigma and at no cost.

⭐️Throwback to #Wausau Skiing⭐️ Fresh snow & crisp winter air—#GranitePeak always delivers great skiing. But this weekend I’m home this weekend with a kid battling Influenza B. 🤢

For everyone hitting the slopes, enjoy! For those battling flu season like me-rest up, lots of liquids and handwashing!

Visiting Boston for work—a city where democracy was fought for and built. A good reminder that civic responsibility isn’t just history; it’s our daily duty.

Participate, vote, stay engaged.

As an adoptive, foster care, & traditional mother all I can say is C’MON WI!

Shocked to learn WI is 1of2 states w/o 12-month postpartum Medicaid coverage, despite BIPARTISAN support—incl. Northwoods lawmakers.

Thx @motherhoodforgood for highlighting actions to help our families/ neighbors.

The Pet and Livestock Protection Act wants hunting for WOLVES & mngmt moved to states with no fed oversight. Extreme approaches—full protection or unrestricted state control—fuel conflict. Instead: State mgmt w/ rqmt to meet fed pop. stnd & hunting only if pop. exceeds endangered species levels.

No One Should Have to Choose Between Rent and Life-Saving Medication.

Cole Schmidtknecht’s tragic death reminds us affordable healthcare is a necessity, not a privilege.

Policies allow a 700% increase in drug cost must be changed. WI must put people over greed.

A billionaire doesn’t need another tax break. Parents trying to afford childcare, school supplies, and groceries deserve tax relief.

If we have money for corporate tax cuts, we have money to invest in kids, parents, and working families.

Let’s get our priorities straight.

What do I think about the tragic airplane crash in D.C.?

1st ❤️ to the families. Let’s not jump to conclusions & let the process unfold with diligence.

What I do know is airline workers are under enormous pressure. They must have the resources, support, & morale they need to stay focused & safe.

❤️ this. A $100k donation from RHINELANDER resident Gale Willcox. This gift underscores a larger issue: the need for safe, affordable homes. In Oneida County, +30% of households are cost-burdened, meaning +30% of income goes to housing.

Generosity can change lives, but much work remains to be done.

I’m now a corporate lawyer, but I know firsthand refugees improve and strengthen our communities.

What’s happening today is heartbreaking—law-abiding individuals, many of whom have overcome incredible hardships, are being unfairly characterized.
