Would you rather own Electronic Arts (globally) (annual revenue $7 billion) at a price of $55 billion, or TikTok U.S. (annual revenue est. at $16 billion) at a price of 80% of $14 billion (but with 50% of profits diverted to ByteDance)?

Soon to play a starring role in TikTok US.
Larry Ellison envisions a surveillance state in which techbros rule. '“Citizens will be on their best behavior, because we’re constantly recording and reporting everything that is going on,” Ellison said in an hour-long Q&A during Oracle’s Financial Analyst Meeting last week.'

Great. Excellent perspective for the company taking a “big role” in whatever it is Trump is planning to do with TikTok.

Trump's EO says "the divestiture puts the operation of the algorithms and code, as well as content-moderation decisions, under the control of the new joint venture."

Ellison family also in charge of TikTok's content moderation??

The TikTok deal & algorithm licensing arrangement are about to get tons of attention. But the algo is just personalized linear algebra. More crucial thing is content moderation — who's doing it, what the rules are, what enforcement looks like. AI slop & disinfo is absolutely rampant on the platform
