Coming in January and available for pre-order now, #Winterbourne is my first gothic novel.

Inside a grand library lies an unspeakable secret...

Huge thanks to Black & White Publishing who are bringing this into the world!

In the spirit of cannibal families, I’m going to start The Lamb by Lucy Rose today.

I’ve been thinking about Brother by Ania Ahlborn quite a lot today. It was my fave read of last year. There was something intensely vulnerable about its brutality. It’s stayed with me.

I also read A Lesson in Violence this week. 10/10 - utterly compelling.

Just finished this and it was deliciously weird and unexpected. A very clever book.

Hey, grown-ups! Don't tell kids that reading is a worthwhile and pleasurable activity - show them! Let them catch you reading a book and sighing, or laughing, or emitting little squeaks of fear, or going back and rereading a bit out loud to yourself. Be a model reader!

This is such a great point! All my authors, please print this and put it wherever you write 🩷

Take the pressure off yourselves for everything to be perfect. It's what keeps structural editors, copyeditors and proofreaders in jobs!
The dirty little open secret to writing is that no one will ever know, nor care, how many drafts of a thing were written - people will only ever care about the crafted thing, and will, despite all knowledge to the contrary, assume it came out fully formed that way. No one thinks about shit drafts.
